The nommo Institute
for Creative Futures
The cultural home of nommo, held apart from the platform that runs it.
“nommo is built as two complementary institutions, not one company. nommo technologies is the operating and technical engine. The Institute is the cultural home, it holds the mission in perpetuity, independent of the platform, and exists to safeguard why nommo was built in the first place, not just how it runs.”
Why It's Separate
A platform optimises for what keeps it running. A cultural mission needs somewhere that answers to something else.
The Institute is not a marketing arm of nommo technologies, and it is not philanthropy bolted onto a product, it is governance: the part of the ecosystem responsible for purpose, held apart from the part responsible for infrastructure. nommo technologies builds the systems that make collection, provenance, stewardship, creator ownership, and authenticated digital autographs possible. The Institute is what those systems are in service of.
The Faculties
Creative & Financial Literacy
Creators shouldn't need a lawyer or an accountant to understand what they're owed. This faculty is the home for that education, plain-language explanations of royalties, rights, and ownership, placed at the point someone actually needs them, not buried in a policy document.
nommo Originals
Productions carrying the Institute's own badge are commissioned and curated here, distinct from the general creator catalog, work made under the Institute's own editorial hand rather than uploaded by a creator on the open platform.
Preservation & Provenance
The technical record of a work's history lives in nommo technologies' infrastructure. This faculty is responsible for why that history matters, and for making sure it isn't lost, the difference between a database entry and an archive.
The Little Book of nommo
The Institute Library
Knowledge shouldn't be a privilege, it should be infrastructure. Short, plain-language volumes on the things creators and collectors are so often expected to already know, each one also lives inline at the exact point in the product where it's actually needed.
What music publishing actually means
Where royalty money actually comes from
What happens after a film is finished
What an ISBN actually does, and when you need one
What's different about selling a photograph or a piece of visual art
What it actually means to license something
Why a work's history matters as much as its creator
What copyright actually protects, and when you get it
What it means to collect, not just own a file
How the 70/30 split works
What a content rating means here
More volumes are added as new terms and mechanics appear in the product.

The machinery lives at nommo technologies. The meaning lives here.
